The Office for Research and Innovation, in partnership with the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, is pleased to announce the following event:
NSF ERC Pitch Event
Thursday, June 12, 2025
1 to 3:30 pm
Charles B. Wang Center, Room 201
Stony Brook University
On May 8, members of the SBU research community gathered for an Information Session about the NSF Engineering Research Centers opportunity. Materials presented by the Office of Proposal Development and McAllister & Quinn are available on the OPD SharePoint site. This next event is the ERC Pitch Event, which will give SBU faculty the opportunity to share concepts for grand challenges that have the potential to become the focus of a future ERC proposal. This will give researchers the opportunity to give and receive feedback and also discuss strategies and resources to build industry partnerships for a 2026 submission to the funding opportunity. Topics should align with the goals of the ERC Program (refer to the slides in the SharePoint site), which brings technology-based industry partners and universities together in an effort to strengthen the competitive position of American industry in the global marketplace.
Research must be novel and not overlap with previously funded ERC topics. Please find a list of currently funded ERCs on the NSF Website.
Interested in pitching your idea? Your pitch should be no more than 5 minutes, with 5 additional minutes for Q&A, following a required presentation template.
Want to engage and provide input? We welcome members of the research community to discuss and determine potential roles for additional partners and contributors.
If you are interested in attending this event or presenting a pitch, please register below.
